Hear from TLIE's Senior Vice President about the latest developments in legal malpractice issues and how lawyers and law firms can identify and avoid potential issues.

Speakers:

Paula Pierce is a Texas attorney, licensed in 1986. She grew up in Snyder, Texas near Lubbock. She is an honors graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio. Paula worked at Texas Legal Services Center, a statewide non-profit legal aid organization, where she managed programs that served senior citizens, veterans, and crime victims throughout Texas. She was on the forefront of national legal efforts to assist identity theft victims. In 2014, Paula moved to private practice to focus her efforts on helping Central Texas’ consumers, identity theft victims, and small businesses. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Austin Bar Association, and Robert W. Calvert Inn of Court. She currently serves on the State Bar of Texas Consumer Law Council and as Chair of the ABA’s GP Solo Section’s Consumer Protection Committee.

Dirk Jordan has been a practicing attorney for more than twenty years, and is an Adjunct Professor for the University of Texas School of Law since 2009. He has served on the Area 9 Grievance Committee for the State Bar of Texas and serves on the State Bar of Texas Law Practice Management Committee and the Board of Directors for the Austin Bar Association Litigation Section. Dirk is also on the Board of the American Inns of Court, a Founding Member of the Austin Bar Foundation, and the Robert A. Calvert Inn of Court. He has given many presentations on Stating and Managing Your Own Law Firm, Technology for Lawyers, the Paperless Office, iPad for Litigators, and many more.

Jett Hanna is the Senior Vice President of Loss Prevention at Texas Lawyers' Insurance Exchange. Included among Jett’s many duties over the years at TLIE are supervising lawyers’ and judges’ professional liability claims, underwriting, loss prevention and computer operations. Jett received his B.B.A., summa cum laude, in Management Science and Computers from Southern Methodist University in 1980, and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1983. Jett is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is a Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU). He lectures and writes on legal malpractice and insurance topics.
